What is IoT(Internet of Things) Technology and How It Works?

It is an Internet-connected system of devices that can collect and exchange data from people and the environment without human involvement. Any gadget equipped with electronics, software, and sensors, such as a smart refrigerator, a smart air conditioner, lighting in the home, connected security systems, or even a person having a monitor or a car, might be considered a device on the Internet of Things.

Kevin Ashton introduced the Internet of Things (IoT) in 1999, also known as the Internet of Everything (IoE).

Components of IoT:

  1. Sensor
  2. Connectivity
  3. Data Processing
  4. User Interface

  1. Building and Home Automation
  2. Medical and Healthcare system
  3. Smart Manufacturing
  4. Smart Transport
  5. Energy resource management

How Did It work?

It has four-stage collect, communicate, analyze and act.

Data is collected everywhere by devices and sensors (collect). Data and events have been sent through networks to many destinations, including a cloud platform and a private data center (communicate). Creating information of data, displaying data, and creating reports (analysis). It makes progress based on knowledge and data (act).

  1. Interactivity and Customization
  2. It is easy and more efficient.
  3. Improved work safety.
  4. Data storage

  1. Dependency on technology
  2. Losing security
  3. Complexity

Companies attempting to implement IoT solutions face several obstacles. On the other hand, the risks and drawbacks of IoT have been avoiding. The impact of IoT on the Internet and economy has expected to grow as billions of people are connected to IoT devices, and some studies estimate that by 2025, more than a trillion people will have used it globally. The economic impact of IoT is vast, but adoption is not without its challenges.
